Communicate
We’re joining to the general outrage and demands for justice and for this crime not to go unpunished as is customary in Mexico, a country without law and justice.
We urge the Government of Mexico City and the federal government to undertake a thorough judicial investigation where all lines are taken into account.
In particular, we ask for Javier Duarte, Governor of Veracruz, to be investigated, given that his mandate term has been marked by the violation of human rights and attacks to freedom of expression with 13 journalists killed, 2 missing and countless disappearances and violent crimes against the Veracruz people. All of which Ruben denounced it himself and had to flee the state as a consequence.
We demand the resignation of the governor Duarte, as he has been, clearly, unable to protect his citizens from violence and terror that reigns in the state of Veracruz.
We demand justice!
No to impunity!
We do not forget! We do not forgive!

8 meses desaparecidos
43 nombres bordados en un pañuelo. 43 ausencias que aún nos duelen. A ocho meses de su desaparición forzada seguimos exigiendo su aparición con vida.
¡Vivos se los llevaron, vivos los queremos!
43 names embroidered in handkerchiefs. 43 missing students whose absence still aches. Eight months after their forced disappearance, we're still demanding they be brought back alive.
They took them alive, alive we want them back!
43 noms brodés sur des mouchoirs. 43 absences dont on souffre toujours. Après huit mois de leur disparition forcée, on exige leur présentation vivants.
Ils les ont pris vivants, nous les voulons vivants!

Embroidering for Someone
Helplessness makes me go out to the streets to yell to
injustice and impunity. But, after the demonstration, dissatisfaction and
unrest are still there. My feet are tired, but my hands feel light. I do not
know how to do it, but I join to the task of embroidering for something.
The cause could not be more terrible: someone is not
there, someone is missing. Someone has been torn off its environment by force…
And that Someone multiplies by tens of thousands. My country is plagued by
absences we’re not even able to count or recall, for daily tragedies come and
cover yesterday’s tragedy.
Then, I embroider. The needle bounds my indignation
with my good wishes. Each embroidery is the acknowledgement and reminder of
that absence. A name made out of thread represents the agony of whole families,
while it materializes my sorrow for that land which still feels like home. And
with this same thread not only one can denunciate; but a joint honest narrative
is built, one that brings closer together those who hurt and those who care: I
embroider, but not on my own. Ours are collective stitches. We embroider so we do
not forget.
